edTPA Assessment Areas
edTPA is offered in the following assessment areas:
edTPA is intended to be integrated with other teacher candidate assessments such as clinical evaluations, embedded signature assessments, and content knowledge examinations to guide and support program improvement, inform program completion, or as a metric for initial licensure. Since the following Texas certifications areas are not standalone or initial certificate areas, the certification areas are not included in the above alignment table:

*In addition to the three tasks, the edTPA Elementary Education: Literacy with Mathematics Task 4 assessment includes a fourth task (Assessing Students’ Mathematics Learning) requiring candidates to analyze their students' learning in mathematics and teach a re-engagement lesson that addresses their students' learning needs.
