Our experience of the universe is profoundly different from those who lived 5,000 years ago, and so the universe was actually different then! Likewise, the experience of the universe - and how it functions - will be profoundly different 5,000 years hence. If we truly recognized the power of bias in scientific endeavors, we'd understand that the hypothesis in the scientific method should happen LAST not FIRST. The overuse of the left brain was given a big boost (purposely so) by the imposition of advanced math requirements in order to get a four-year degree in ANYTHING (including the humanities or arts). The result has been that people who achieve influential positions are almost always those who are unbalanced toward left-brain analysis and concrete answer-seeking. Society is suffering hugely from the shrinking amounts of spendable 'social credit' - e.g., activities whose sole purpose is the advancement or promotion of quality or aesthetic creativity that advances human feelings and interactions. Result: Cultural degradation. I appreciate very much that Luc emphasized a fact that I always find hilarious - the human will has been deleted from the mechanistic perspective (unless it's the author's own will.) He/she's allowed to want or intend something, while everyone else's actions are asserted to be a function of mechanistic brain processes. Conversely, as Luc stated, fragments of whole processes or lives can be identified as interacting because they naturally "want" or "need" something or other. Lorentz, Henri Poincare, David Hilbert, but that Einstein had a particular 'interpretation' that he presented. Many people were upset at his lack of citing papers or sources from which he had almost certainly read and drawn ideas. codis that is interesting, that was for the photoelectric effect if I recall correclty.
