Although Twilight Princess is usually considered one of the two dark horses of the series (the other one being Majora Mask), many players have been assuming that Nintendo wouldn’t ever release anything related to it again. However, what if we told you the newest entry to the Legend of Zelda series, Tears of the Kingdom, just might be connected to Twilight Princess?
Interested? Well, we don’t blame you. With all the evidence we’ve gathered from the trailers, we just might be able to make a connection.
Starting off, is Tears of the Kingdom connected to Twilight Princess? Well, there hasn’t been any official statement regarding it so all we can do is assume and theorize for now. However, there’s some evidence that just might be hinting toward a Twilight Princess connection in Tears of the Kingdom.
For starters, the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom not only have Zonai iconography all over the floating structures, but the structures themselves are reminiscent of floating islands in the Twilight Realm even if the game isn’t set there . The Twilight Realm has only made an appearance in, you guessed it, Twilight Princess.
Additionally, in the very first trailer of the game, a hand that looked as if it was from the Twilight Realm reached out towards the corpse of Ganon, leading players to believe Ganondorf’s revival might have something to do with the Twilight Realm, or maybe Zant.
Finally, the title of the game Tears of the Kingdom might be a reference to the tears of light that players are tasked to collect if they want to progress in the story of Twilight Princess. Alternatively, it could also be a callback to Skyward Sword’s Sacred Tears from the test of the Goddess, which would make sense if this was the last Zelda game .
