No you cannot roll in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This was taken out in Breath of the Wild and replaced with Sprinting and the addition of the Stamina Gauge, and why change something for a sequel when it works? Rolling was a traditional Zelda mechanic, yet Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are a new Zelda generation of games. But I would like to see its return if they return to more traditional roots.
Rolling in The Legend of Zelda games has always been a series staple. I remember fondly playing Ocarina of Time as a child, rolling through Hyrule Field, and it felt like such a fast way to travel. Well, until speedrunners discovered walking backward while Z-Targeting was!

However, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild brought about massive shifts in the traditional Zelda formula, one of the most notable being removing the ability to roll. No longer could I roll from point A to point B; instead, the mechanics of sprinting and the Stamina Gauge were introduced, altering the game’s flow.
Strangely enough, the transition was instantaneous. Rolling was akin to a placebo effect, that it seemed a lot faster than it was. But with the addition of an actual sprint, rolling was forgotten about. No longer do you have to keep tapping the action button every second to start a new roll. You just hold down the button and watch the Stamina Gauge closely to ensure you don’t run out of stamina.
