A PAC code (Porting Authorisation Code) is used to swap between mobile networks in the UK. The easiest way to receive a PAC code is to text PAC to 65075 from your existing mobile phone number that's tied to your current SIM card or eSIM. You'll receive a nine-digit code via SMS, which typically arrives in under 60 seconds.

As well as the aforementioned text-to-switch option, you can also get a PAC code to change mobile network provider from a dedicated online account through your current provider's dedicated app or online website. Talkmobile provides a temporary number alongside your existing number and PAC code request. Alternatively, if you prefer to speak to someone to make the switch, calling customer service will see a professional handle and process the request for you as well.
While PAC codes are used to retain your current phone number, you can make the switch with a brand new number via SMS with "STAC" to 75075 instead. PAC codes are free and remain valid for 30 days, so you have the option to bring your old number over or start fresh with a brand new 07 number instead.
