The Thoroughfare Plan and the Central Business District Streets and Vehicular Circulation Plan (CBD Plan) are the long range roadway planning documents. These Plans determine the required right-of-way and designation/operation of many of the roadways in the Dallas City Limits.

Conservation District sub-districts: These districts exist primarily in East Dallas and Oak Cliff. They concentrate on protecting such things as architecture styles, densities of the area, heights of structures, and setback guidelines. A homeowners association is a legal entity created at the time of development of a residential subdivision, planned community or condominium property. An HOA enforces rules and manages common areas within its boundary. Land Bank Lots are parcels that are currently owned by the City of Dallas Land Bank and are for sale to qualified developers for the production of affordable housing. Targeted Area Action Grid Primary Areas (TAAGs), used to highlight where conditions are favorable for crime to occur. TAAGs point to the locaiton where there is an increased likelihood of victimization and criminal behavior, designed to focus intervention efforts. All Public Improvement District boundaries. Public Improvement District (PID) program allows for groups of property owners to request special property tax assessments for the provision of services above typical City of Dallas levels. Public Private Partnership target areas. A project must be physically located within the City of Dallas to be eligible. Projects located in a Target Area are given special consideration.
