Hapag-Lloyd has announced changes to its West Africa Express (WAX) service starting September 2026, adding a direct connection between Damietta Port and several West African ports, while removing Casablanca from the rotation.
The updated rotation starts in Damietta and calls at Izmit, Gemlik, Istanbul, Valencia, and Tangier, then Lagos, Onne, Cotonou, Tema, and Lome, before returning through Tangier and Barcelona to Damietta.
The carrier named Merkur Ocean, voyage 2639S, as the first sailing on the new rotation, with an expected arrival at Damietta on September 21, 2026.
Hapag-Lloyd has also launched a new Casablanca service under the code CSF, based on X-Press Feeders' SPX1 service, connecting Barcelona, Valencia, and Algeciras with Casablanca before returning to Barcelona.
