The change currently applies to westbound sailings only, while eastbound sailings will continue to route via the Cape of Good Hope.
The carrier named MSC Domna X, voyage IV637A, as the first vessel on the updated routing, with departure from Colombo scheduled for September 23, 2026.
MSC said it will keep monitoring developments in the region and may adjust routings as conditions change.
