CMA CGM has announced an update to its Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS), driven by rising fuel prices amid ongoing disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb.
The new rates take effect on October 1, 2026, based on loading date, and range from USD 75 to USD 320 per TEU depending on trade direction and container type.
On head haul sailings, the surcharge is USD 265 per TEU for dry containers and USD 320 for reefers. On back haul and intra-regional sailings, it is USD 75 for dry containers and USD 90 for reefers.
CMA CGM said the new rates will replace the current EFS levels and remain in effect until further notice.
