Listen to Suzie and Robin talk about their pictures, then do the exercises to help you understand.
Suzie : Hi, I’m Suzie. In art at school, we looked at some really cool pictures by an artist from Japan, called Yayoi Kusama. I love the pictures because they have lots and lots of dots, and the colours are really bright. Then, we painted our own picture that looks like Yayoi Kusama’s. I painted a pumpkin. It’s big and orange with lots of black dots. The dots are in lines. Some dots are quite big, and some are small. I’m really happy with my picture.
Robin : I’m Robin. Our teacher showed us some portraits by Pablo Picasso. They made us laugh because the people look silly, with big eyes and noses! I’ve painted a picture in the same style. It’s a self-portrait, so it’s a picture of me, and I look really funny! One side of my face is yellow, and the other side is purple. One eye is big and open, and the other one is small and closed. I’ve got a really long nose. My hair is green, and my mouth is bright red.
