Freya : [sighs] Ollie : What’s up, Freya? Freya : I’m doing my homework. I have to write about a woman I admire. Ollie : So, who are you going to write about? Freya : Well, that’s the problem. I don’t know! I’m looking on this website, and there are so many women who have done amazing things. I don’t know who to choose. Ollie : OK. Let’s have a look … ooh, what about Simone Biles? Freya : It says here that Simone Biles is a gymnast. Many people say she’s the greatest of all time. Simone Biles has more World Championship medals than anyone else. Ollie : Oh yeah, I’ve seen her on TV. Her jumps and flips were amazing. Freya : Hmm. OK … or what about Greta Thunberg? Did you know she was only 15 when she started protesting against climate change? I think she was really brave speaking up to world leaders, telling them they have to do something to stop it. Ollie : That’s true. Or what about Malala, oh what’s her surname? We learned about her at school. Freya : Ah yes, she’s here on the website. Malala Yousafzai. Malala won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17. She spoke out for girls and their right to have an education. Ollie : You’re right, Freya, there are so many important women to choose from. Freya : You know what, Ollie? I’ve just had a thought. Ollie : What? Freya : Well, our teacher said the woman we write about doesn’t have to be a famous person. Ollie : And? Freya : Well, I think I’m going to write about Grandma. She’s a woman I really admire. She’s travelled a lot, she even speaks four different languages … and don’t forget, she helps people learn to read at the library every week. Ollie : Yes, of course! Perhaps you can interview Grandma and find out more about the things she’s done! Freya : That’s a brilliant idea, Ollie. I’m going to phone her right now.
