There were cows in the road - loads of them. I pulled hard on the brakes and swerved. The back wheel skidded, and I was under my bike. I felt the stinging pain in my leg and arm where they ripped on the road. I lay there, looking up at the cows glaring down at me. There's something about a cow's eyes - mad and staring, like they want to trample you to death. I slowly began get up, when one of them started to come towards me - gigantic, it was. I screamed.
G. C. Gemin was born in Cardiff, South Wales, of Italian parentage, and lives in London. He spends much of his non-writing time listening to a variety of music, from Jimmy Smith to Giuseppe Verdi, with whom he is particularly obsessed. He speaks enough Italian to order ice cream, cake, or both.
