Andréa Prior is a writer and illustrator who lives between the South Downs of England and Marbella in the South West of Spain with her husband John.
With a degree in illustration from Leeds University she spent her formative career working as an illustrator and Artists Agent in children’s publishing. She has also had several successful art exhibitions before pursuing a rewarding and thriving business career in the branding and design industry at managing director level.
Fortunate enough to grow up in a safari park near Durham, Andréa worked as a Park Ranger in ‘Pet’s Corner’, looking after llamas, goats, monkeys, pot-bellied pigs and a lion cub called Caro-lion. Her love of animals and passion for illustration inspired her to create her books of rhyming poems and funny characters that are loved by thousands of children.
Andréa regularly visits schools to share her life-long love of reading and as well as performing poems from her books she also talks to children about where her ideas come from and how her character illustrations come to life. She also runs art workshops and talks to older children about the process of creating a book and getting it published.
When she’s not getting busy with her paints, she loves nothing more than playing her piano and sitting in the sunshine with a good book and sun hat.
