A spin-off from Andrea Beaty’s and David Roberts’s inspiring and ground-breaking Rosie Revere, Engineer this eye-catching activity book will get children themselves thinking and creating like real engineers. While it tells them exactly how to create contraptions such as a catapult and a solar oven, more importantly it explains how engineers think, and challenges readers to ask questions, test things and imagine how the world around them could be improved.
Most crucial of all, it reveals that failure is nothing to be ashamed of but in fact – along with persistence – a crucial part of success. Creativity is essential to engineers, the book says, and there are lots of pages on which children can draw and note down ideas; fun and empowering. ~ Andrea Reece
Embark on an adventure of personal creativity with fan favourite Rosie Revere! This activity book features art from the picture book Rosie Revere, Engineer and will inspire young readers with activities of all kinds.

Kids will have the chance to design a better bicycle, build a simple catapult, construct a solar oven, and more! This empowering activity book will teach problem-solving and creative-thinking skills crucial to STEM fields while also providing opportunities for its readers to try new things and, sometimes, to fail. As the picture book so brilliantly showed hundreds of thousands of young readers, flops are an inevitable part of success and something to be celebrated rather than feared.
Created by Andrea Beaty and David Roberts, the same New York Times bestselling team who brought us Rosie Revere, Iggy Peck and Ada Twist, this activity book will be perfect for old and new fans alike!
"A book with great sense of rhythm and lots to discuss that could encourage girls to experiment, invent and get things wrong without worrying about it. Halleluiah!" The Bookbag
"It’s a great way to remind children to try and not worry if they don’t succeed the first time." The Guardian

"A fantastic read aloud, this story has much more to recommend it to a class teacher. The story is an excellent way into discussions about persevering, learning from mistakes and not being daunted by the opinions of others." North Somerset Teachers' Book Award
Andrea Beaty is the author of many beloved children’s books, including the bestselling Questioneers series, I Love You Like Yellow , Happy Birthday, Madame Chapeau , and One Girl. She lives just outside Chicago.
"I was raised in southern Illinois in a town so small I knew everybody and their pets. And they all knew me. I was one of six kids and we spent our summer days traipsing through the fields and forests hunting for adventure. We often found it. And sometimes it found us. Always, it was fun and often, we laughed so hard we blew Orange Crush or Grape Nehi Soda out our noses. I still avoid Grape Nehi . . . just in case. I was a big reader as a kid and LOVED Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon Mysteries. Then I moved on to Agatha Christie books and then the classics. Don’t tell anyone, but my secret ambition is to star in a Broadway musical and I am often tempted to break into song and dance at very odd moments. Mostly in the frozen food section of my grocery store. They have very good lighting."
