Princess Eliza is a fairytale one-off – a princess who enjoys inventing and making useful gadgets. Her parents aren’t too keen on this, finding it a bit messy, and the queen would prefer her daughter to make friends, not machines. But Eliza comes into her own when, searching for a friend, she stumbles across Santa’s grotto.
With Santa poorly, the elves are terribly behind on their Christmas tasks, and delighted with Eliza’s ingenious time-saving inventions which have the presents sorted, packed and labelled before you can say ‘Ho, ho, ho’. A fun story with a positive message, neatly told in a rhyming text and with warm, lively illustrations. Definitely worth adding to the Christmas list. ~ Andrea Reece
Princess Eliza is brilliant at making toys and gadgets, but her mum wants her to start making friends instead. In Santa's workshop, the elves are worried - with Santa ill, how will they ever get everything ready for Christmas? Luckily, Eliza arrives with her inventing skills to save the day, and make some unexpected friends along the way.A festive fourth title in the successful Princess series that encourages girls to celebrate their skills, no matter how un-princessy.
“This is a joyful story with sly allusions to other fairy tales, and the illustrations bring to life a Nordic winter.” – The Scotsman
“Warburton includes plenty of fun, offhand details in her scruffy cartoons (a guitar rests beside the fireplace in Santa’s cozy den, and he sports a purple sweater under his red coat). Hart delivers a welcome twist on a “saving Christmas” story that slyly references familiar fairy tales while placing a tech-savvy princess at its center.” – Publishers Weekly
“Fans of Princess and the Pea stories will enjoy this rhyming, heroic tale of a girl who uses her wits to solve problems. Warburton’s peppy, busy, whimsical, and often pink-toned illustrations should have no trouble winning over kids. A great choice for read- alouds, too.” – Booklist
