Arnold is a lion, but he’s a pink lion who lives (very happily) with flamingos, doing what flamingos do, until a gang of growling lions come by and tell him he should be out with them roaring and hunting. It’s confusing and difficult for Arnold, who decides in the end he feels more at home with his feathery friends.
When a crocodile takes over the lake however, a bit of roaring and the support of his lion mates proves very useful for Arnold! It’s a lovely story, full of life and silliness and fun, but with an important message too about identity and belonging, a message that says loud and clear that family is where the heart is. ~ Andrea Reece

Jane Porter is an illustrator specialising in work both for and with children. Her work ranges from picture and novelty books to children's maps, murals and hand-made books suitable for outreach work. She has worked for a number of organizations, including the National Trust, English Heritage, London Zoo, the Corporation of London, Historic Royal Palaces and the National Health Service.
When she's not working, Jane is often to be found out on the River Thames in a coracle or skiff, looking out for passing bats, cormorants and wagtails.
