OK, here’s the plot of this hugely entertaining and very funny book: ogres that sleep under Britain’s standing stones have been awakened by a malignant gnome called Leatherhead Barnstorm. He has the Doomstone Sword and therefore control of all the dwarves and is marching on Perth. Out to stop him are our heroes dwarf Mossbelly MacFearsome and the eleven-year-old he’s appointed as the Destroyer, Roger Paxton.
The stage is set for a thoroughly rambunctious fantasy adventure, packed with wonderful characters, unexpected moments, a bevy of fabulous fights and some very nasty little monsters. An ogre-sized helping of fun and adventure, this is one to push into the hands of fans of Danny Wallace , Shane Hegarty and Will Mabbitt.
Roger is just an ordinary boy, in an ordinary world - or so he thinks, until a grumpy dwarf warrior, Mossbelly MacFearsome, appears out of thin air and saves him from the school bully. If that isn't incredible enough, now Moss has decided that Roger is the perfect human companion for his daring quest to defeat the dwarves' arch-enemy Leatherhead Barnstorm and his horrifying horde of monstrous (but very polite) gorefiends.

An action-packed quest. The perfect set up for a new series!
Mossbelly Macfearsom and the Dwarves of Doom is an ation-packed quest. This book is the first in a new series starring ordinary schoolboy Roger and Mossbelly Macfearsome - Dwarf, betrothed to Dwarf Queen Gwri and leader of the royal guard.
This book is great for 9+ readers and Mossbelly's strange speech could be a hit with younger readers too!

This is an exciting fantasy adventure about a dwarf who comes to Earth to save the humans from a wicked fate. Will they stop the enemy from using the shadow sword? Even if they do there may be a worse fate lurking ahead...
This is a book about a dwarf who comes to Earth to save the humans from a wicked fate. Mossbelly MacFearsome and Roger have to stop Leatherhead Barnstorm and his gorefiends from using the shadow sword to awaken and enchant the ogres. It is an exciting fantasy adventure with really interesting characters such as witch-watchers who tell the dwarves what is happening above ground. I really like Maddie who uses Karate to kill gorefiends. My favourite part of the story was when Roger and Mossbelly get chased by the police for nearly killing a school bully. You have to get used to Mossbelly’s language; for example ‘you gob like a mumblecrusted saddle-goose. Natterjack!’ but this makes it fun reading.... Read Full Review
