If you’ve not yet introduced yourself to Deary's Fire Thief series then you must – a series that reinvents, in a more contemporary setting, the myth of Prometheus. The Fire Thief was published to much acclaim earlier this year and Julia Eccleshare said it was ‘a rollicking good read’.
The Flight of the Fire Thief is the second in the trilogy and I can safely say it’s awesome. The author deftly entwines two plots through the creation of some terrifically likeable characters, in particular, Nell, a 12 year old girl, time travel and a murky, rather seedy cityscape. It’s a great read.
To read the books in order start with The Fire Thief then Flight of the Fire Thief finally The Fire Thief Fights Back .
It's 1795 and plucky 12 year old Nell and her crafty Pa are swindling Eden City with their travelling stage show. Meanwhile, up on Mount Olympus, Zeus and Hera are bickering as never before. Their latest plan for Troy can only end in disaster.
