Funny, action-packed and full of great characters, I can recommend Serena Patel’s new story to anyone – indeed, everyone – who’s at primary school. They’ll giggle with recognition at the setting and be thoroughly caught up in the story. In this new adventure, the second in a series, our hero Anisha is set to show off her volcano project at the science fair and has high hopes of winning the prize and a trip to the national space centre.
But disaster strikes when her volcano erupts prematurely and floods the school. Anisha is disqualified and begins to suspect sabotage. With the help of her best friend Milo and his pet rat, she sets out to find the culprit. Anisha’s family are as much a part of the story as her schoolmates and readers will put down the book feeling they have increased their circle of friends considerably.
Illustrations throughout by Emma McCann add to the overall liveliness of the telling. Great stuff!
This is one to recommend to fans of Konnie Huq’s Cookie books which also feature a direct talking, lively, science-obsessed central character and are just as much fun to read.

"I've been working sooo hard with Milo and Govi to make our super-erupting volcano for the school science fair. I really thought we might win first prize - a trip to the National Space Centre. But now we're in BIG trouble.

One minute we were in the lab practising our science demo, and the next thing we knew, our volcano exploded and flooded the corridors. School had to be cancelled!
But did we really get our project so wrong - or is someone else trying to win first prize? Looks like a case for Anisha, Accidental Detective!""
Anisha can't wait to show off her volcano project at the science fair...and maybe win the prize trip to the national space centre. But when the volcano explodes and floods the school, Anisha is disqualified. It's so unfair, because it wasn't her fault!
Can Anisha, her best friend Milo, a pet rat, and a high-school vlogger catch the culprit?
Praise for Anisha, Accidental Detective;

This book is so amazing and funny. I finished it in a day! Anisha, Accidental Detective is the best book of the year. I love the way how the story and writing is set up and how the pictures match the scene. Anisha really looks like me.
This book is outstanding. I loved it so much that I finished it in one whole day!
School's Cancelled is about a girl called Anisha who is accused of causing a catastrophe at school and as a punishment gets banned from entering the science fair. My favourite part was when she confronted the culprit on the big day.
What made me read the whole book in one day was because there were so many suspects, I was determined to discover who the guilty culprit was. I liked how Anisha narrowed down the investigation to make it easier to figure out. I am so excited to read the next book. When is it coming out?
The illustrations are so mesmerising, Anisha really looks like me.... Read Full Review
