February 2022 Book of the Month
We left the heroes of S.A. Patrick’s thrilling adventure quest in perilous circumstances: Patch and Barver, the dracogriff, were trapped in a magical prison and escape seemed impossible, while their heroic friend Wren was in an even more dangerous situation as a prisoner of the evil Piper of Hamelyn.
It seemed that their efforts to thwart the Piper’s plans would come to nothing. If we’ve learned anything from these excellent stories however, it’s never to underestimate our unlikely heroes, their resilience or the strength that comes from their friendship. There are death-defying moments, scenes that will bring a lump to the throat and, even as the story draws to an end, twists and surprises.
Congratulations to Patrick for creating such a striking world and such memorable characters, and for conjuring up so much pleasure for readers. To get the full impact, you do need to have read the previous two books, A Darkness of Dragons and A Vanishing of Griffins , but that just equals three times the pleasure.

S.A. Patrick was born in Belfast. When he was a child, he wanted to write video games, become an author, and have magical powers. The first two came true. If he ever does get magical powers, he hopes people like dragons and griffins because there'll suddenly be a lot of them around.
He has had four previous books published as Seth Patrick. Songs of Magic is his first series for children.

Can Patch defeat the Piper of Hamelyn? It seems hopeless, don't bet on it!
This book finishes the story of Patch and his friends who are trying to defeat the Piper of Hamelyn. I have read the first book A Darkness of Dragons, but I haven't read the second book A Vanishing of Griffins. That didn't really matter though, because I caught up on the story really quickly. I like Patch, he's brave and kind and fun. It was a bit obvious what would happen at the end but the story was good to read and there was lots happening in it all of the time. The best bit was Patch fighting the Piper!... Read Full Review
