Mouse Mountain is an adventure story based around two mice, Dan and Hawthorne who have the ability to “shift” or move by the power of thought. A good fantasy atmosphere is set and there is a lot of action, as Dan the mouse discovers that Hawthorne has led him up a mountain to meet a not so friendly Weasel.
A sweet friendship develops between Dan the mouse and Milly the cat who helps him when he is in trouble. There is a group of rats who are the enemies of the mice and cats, who lock them up in their own dungeons! There is a lot of action but some of the descriptions of the fights are a little graphic for younger children, I would say the target audience for this book is readers aged nine to twelve. There is a happy ending and the characters of Dan and Milly are very likeable.

Milly is an ordinary cat. Fluffier than most, certainly, but otherwise very ordinary. Or that's what she thinks. But she has a destiny; a destiny that is carved into a legend on the ancient walls of a temple in another world, a world ruled by magical mice who are threatened with destruction by an army of evil rats.
The rats will do anything to stop the legend coming true, and when she is attacked one peaceful afternoon near her home, she only survives with the help of a bedraggled young mouse who appears from nowhere. He tells her the rats will be back and that they will not rest until she's dead. Her only hope is to return with the mouse to his world and fulfil her destiny.
