Penguins all love the cold, don’t they? But what if they don’t? And what if they are not even sure that they want to be a penguin??
Clive Penguin is one such. He is determined that there is more to life than standing on an ice floe with all the other penguins. Setting off to explore he finds that there is an interesting world beyond his own. And a solution to the cold. Everything is perfect. Except he is then too hot! A gently humorous story that will make readers think about making choices.
Who’s ever heard of a penguin that doesn't like the cold? Surrounded by the same old snow day in day out and always bloomin’ freezing, Clive Penguin wishes he was somewhere else. SOMEONE else. But, with an epic discovery just around the corner, the solution might be easier than he thinks . . .

From real life polar-exploring adventurer Huw Lewis Jones and award-winning illustrator Ben Sanders comes a quirky story about getting what you need, rather than what you want.
Readers will hoot with laughter at the hilariously deadpan Clive Penguin – a unique voice that’s perfect for fans of Jon Klassen, Oliver Jeffers and Morag Hood. Featuring edgy illustrations complete with neon orange ink. Oh, and penguins.
Huw Lewis Jones has voyaged many times to Antarctica, meeting all kinds of penguins. He is now a professor at Falmouth University teaching natural history and other creative things. Huw has written books about photography, mountains, and maps, but these days his stories are mostly about annoying apples and befuddled badgers. He lives in Cornwall.
