Jack Noel’s Dadbot , the first in a fresh new graphic novel series, is a jamboree of colourful comedy. Packed with puns, especially those of the butt variety, it’s a super-funny antic-packed adventure that sees a pair of siblings, Josh and Daisy, find themselves with more than they bargained for after they buy a robot for a bargain price from the Booty and the Beast car boot sale.
The story kicks off with Josh and Daisy’s parents being more than a little preoccupied with work, which is why their dad doesn’t notice them buying the robot. While the robot’s functionality is, in the words of its inventor, Doctor Egg, “non-optimal”, the siblings dress it up to be their “broke-bot father”, given that their actual father remains preoccupied.
Back at home, Josh and Daisy clean up their new purchase and notice a button on its butt. Of course, they press the butt button, and hey presto…! Nothing happens. But then, after being struck by lightning and chomping down a tin of coffee, the robot comes alive and has the ability to print data and serve hot chocolate from his butt.
Later that day, a walk in the park turns out to be anything but(t) a walk in the park when Doctor Egg sees his invention is alive and instructs another of his robot creations to steal back Dadbot. Unfortunately, the kids’ actual dad winds up being kidnapped instead, and so a rescue mission gets underway.

Jack Noel is a Jack of three trades: author, illustrator, designer, who works mainly on children's books and is a co-host on the Down the Rabbit Hole children's books podcast. In 1986 he won the Brighton Cooperative Beautiful Baby competition. Now Jack lives in London with his family and enjoys doodling in books belonging to dead Victorian gentlemen. One day he tweeted some spreads of Great Expectations in a funny middle grade style, and the rest is history!

I would give this book 5 out of 5 because it was a very funny story to read. I Ioved the characters in the book especially Josh and Daisy.
This book is about Josh and Daisy. It’s the summer holidays and they keep saying “We’re bored!” to their parents so their dad takes them for a walk at a car boot sale. Here they see a robot and buy it from a mad inventor called Doctor egg. When they bring it home Josh and Daisy’s mom makes them put it on their roof at night because she finds it creepy but during the night it is raining heavily and there was also lightning. It strikes the robot and it comes to life. When Doctor Egg finds out he wants the robot back and that’s when things start to get really wild.

The story follows a boy named Ash who gets the worst news ever—his dad is moving far away. But instead of just being sad, he and his best friend, Roberta, come up with a genius plan: build a robot version of his dad! What could go wrong? Well... a lot. Soon, the Dadbot starts acting a little too dad-like, and things get totally out of control.
This book is packed with hilarious moments, crazy inventions, and cool comic-style illustrations. It’s great for kids who enjoy books by Dav Pilkey (Dog Man, Captain Underpants) or anyone who likes a mix of adventure and comedy. It’s not just about robots and chaos, but also about family, friendship, and dealing with change.

The story telling is AMAZNG. It has some dramatic moments and some funny bits. Mister Egg is super funny and silly. Dadbot is super brave and RESCUES DAD.
