Huzzah! Magical Amari is back for the third instalment of B.B. Alston’s sensational supernatural agent series, and boy does Amari and the Despicable Wonders live up to sky-high hopes. As ever, Amari’s voice shines with dynamism and whip-smart wit as trouble brews in the form of a mind-manipulating prime minister and the threat of war.
This fabulous third book in the series kicks off with Amari encountering the big breaking news that magicians have attacked the Bureau of Supernatural affairs, leaving “many fearing the incident could spark a larger conflict, one as devastating as the Ancient War”. “This is my fault,” she responds, desperate for a chance to put things right, while her friends Jayden and Elsie rally round to support her, concerned about the condition of her aura.
Into this, war is escalating and everyone, including Amari’s newly-returned agent brother Quinton, is set on keeping her safe as her enemy Dylan is crowned leader of the League of Magicians. After discovering the only way to stop his destructive ambitions is to get their hands on powerful ancient Wonders, Amari and co set out on a perilous quest to do exactly that.
The magic and sense of adventure are off-the-scale exhilarating, as is the sense of doing whatever needs to be done in the name of doing what’s right.
The highly anticipated third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Supernatural Investigations series that began with Amari and the Night Brothers! Perfect for readers aged 8+ and fans of Skandar, Percy Jackson, Nevermoor and Men in Black.

The highly anticipated third book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Supernatural Investigations series that began with Amari and the Night Brothers ! Perfect for readers aged 8+ and fans of Skandar, Percy Jackson, Nevermoor and Men in Black .
War has come to the supernatural world, and Amari's two worst enemies are leading the charge.
Elaine Harlowe has manipulated her way into becoming prime minister, using her mind control ability to force the Bureau to take up her vicious grudge against magiciankind. Meanwhile, Dylan Van Helsing, the newly crowned leader of the League of Magicians-and Amari's former partner-is after a destructive new power that would not only ensure the magicians' victory … it would make him invincible.
With neither the Bureau nor the League safe for Amari, and her newly returned brother, Quinton, determined to keep her out of the fray, she and her friends decide to find a way to end the war on their own.
So when they learn that the only way to stop Dylan is to find powerful magical inventions known as Wonders, they go after them. But wielding these items comes at a terrible cost, and Amari will have to decide just how much she's willing to sacrifice … because the Despicable Wonders will demand everything
"Amari is magical!" - Angie Thomas, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Hate U Give
B.B. Alston started writing in middle school, entertaining his classmates with horror stories starring the whole class where not everyone survived! After several years of trying to break into publishing, he had just been accepted into a biomedical graduate program when a chance entry into a twitter pitch contest led to his signing with his agent, 20+ book deals worldwide, and even a film deal.
When not writing, he can be found eating too many sweets and exploring country roads to see where they lead. B.B. was inspired to write Amari and the Night Brothers because he couldn't find any fantasy stories featuring Black kids when he was growing up. He hopes to show kids that though you might look different, or feel different, whatever the reason, your uniqueness needn't only be a source of fear and insecurity. There is great strength and joy to be found in simply accepting yourself for who you are. Because once you do so, you'll be unstoppable.

Travel through a magical world with Amari Peters as she once again faces her arch nemesis, Dylan Van Helsing. As the third book of the series B.B Alston is sure to have you glued to the book.
Travel through a magical world with Amari Peters and her fight to end Dylan Van Helsing’s reign once and for all, it can't be that hard can it? Especially now she has Vanquish on her side. As the third book of the series B.B Alston is sure to have you glued to the book. You are transported into a supernatural world, going from portals, into haunted houses and getting trapped in time freezes. If you enjoyed Amari’s first 2 adventures, you'll be sure to love this. I particularly enjoyed the tension between different characters and how everyone is connected in the supernatural world and as a magician, Amari needs to show the supernatural world that not all magicians are villains and even though Dylan’s family has secretly had a long line of talented magicians, some are good and others are just like Dylan.... Amari is amazing! This is an exciting, fast paced, supernatural adventure. Just, if not more exciting, as the previous two books and a book I just didn't want to put down.
Amari is amazing - 10 Stars!!! I LOVED this book.
If you haven't read the first two go and do it NOW!
This book follows on directly from the end of the 2nd book (the great game), Amari blames herself for everything that is happening but with the help of her friends they work together to try and put things right. I still love the supernatural world in which these books are set, with magicians, weredragons and a whole variety of other supernatural beings, hidden from the sight of the known world. This is an exciting, fast paced adventure.... Read Full Review
