Ever wondered how you’d cope if (bossy) aliens landed in the garden and demanded to be taken to your leader? That’s what happens to Hillman. They crush his dad’s pride and joy, a 1978 Ford Anglia, in the process and things only get crazier from there.
With her robot servant Silver at her side, armed with a custard blaster, Princess Cassiopeia is determined to save Earth from the much more ruthless Prince Perseus, also newly arrived with his robot Bronz and expecting his spaceship fleet to join them, and then wipe out our planet. Others involved in the adventure are Roz, junior bank robber accidentally teamed up with Prince Perseus, her grandad and his fellow users of the Sunny View Day Care Centre.
Despite the silliness, this is a proper adventure with cliffhangers, explosions and surprises galore, including some particularly enjoyable twists at the end, and a fair bit of social comment too. Rory Walker has fun with the illustrations and there’s lots to enjoy in this madcap story.
When aliens land in Hillman‘s back garden, nothing is ever the same again, not even for his pet rabbit, Arthur.

On a deeply ordinary day Hillman finds that Cassiopeia and her android Silver have landed their space ship in his back garden and crushed his dad’s car.
Cassiopeia is a princess who claims to rule galaxies, only she’s shrunk her armada and needs help, or Perseus, her galactic enemy, might defeat her AND destroy this manky planet, just to show he means business. Can Hillman, an eleven year old boy, and Cassiopeia defeat Prince Perseus, Lord of the Five Spirals, Admiral of the 1st Attack Fleet, Commander of the Order of Zarg, and more recently winner of the Alpha Centauri Award for Best-Dressed Galactic Despot? We’ll see. Perhaps, after many twists and turns...
A sparkling new book by a Lollies shortlisted author, full of wickedly funny satire with twenty-first century issues at its heart, written for children 7+, but that adults will find hugely enjoyable too.
