The dog in the title is a soft toy in a red collar and belongs to the Boring Machine, used by Sunil and his inventor neighbour to go time travelling. The toy is lost and if they can’t find it in time, the machine will explode at which point there’ll be a massive time-quake and everyone in a ten-mile radius will die of boredom. The stakes are high therefore!
As Sunil and Alex zip through time to all the places the Boring Machine has visited recently looking for the little dog, they meet artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, Daswanth, Hokusai and Tracey Emin. Sunil picks up useful tips for his homework (he’s creating a self-portrait) and we all learn lots about art and the artists he meets.
This series cleverly combines humour, adventure and information and is thoroughly entertaining reading.
A page-turning, laugh-out-loud historical adventure by comedian and broadcaster Iszi Lawrence (as seen on Netflix and Sky History), perfect for fans of Horrible Histories.

Sunil and his inventor friend Alex have a problem. Alex's time machine wants to go time-travelling all by itself! When it turns up in a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, Sunil and Alex must go on a quest through time to collect all the pictures, tiles and tapestries of the machine and bring them back to the present.
Join their journey to meet Da Vinci, the architect of Taj Mahal Ahmad Lohri, the women who embroidered the Bayeux Tapestry and Imhotep and the artists working on the Pyramid of Giza. This is art history like you've never seen it before!
