Mission Dyslexia is a set of colourful, vibrantly illustrated workbooks. They are both positive and practical in their approach and are packed with inspiring and thought-provoking ideas. The books are marketed as dyslexic workbooks with an emphasis on resilience, and the tools to develop a growth mindset.
The authors are clearly passionate about what they write and with one dyslexic parent and two dyslexic children. they are writing from experience. They are understanding of a dyslexic child’s frustration, their feelings and emotions and the sheer exhaustion of getting through a school day.
Each book takes on a slightly different focus, looking after your brain and how to approach tasks in a positive way , building your self esteem and using your strengths to solve problems .
Whilst these books are packed with ideas, practical worksheets and techniques, I would say that the messages in the book could apply to almost any child who is facing a difficulty. The ‘can do attitude’ and positivity are themes that are covered in both PSHE and study skill lessons and frankly there are elements within the book that would benefit us all. Such messages as ‘swapping worry for a wish’ and ‘imagine yourself into a better space’ are helpful to everyone.
The dominant theme with the Mission Dyslexia Series is wellbeing and growth mindset, and the authors have beautifully crafted a resource that goes beyond just being a dyslexia workbook - it offers so much more.

Paul McNeill is the head of community football for the Scottish Football Association, and is an experienced public and keynote speaker.
