Amelia Cheeseheart, named after the famous American pilot and just as brave and daring, lives in a hot air balloon in a museum gift shop with her best friend Wilbur, a spider.
They’re off on holiday in this adventure and heading to the Ice Age Exhibit to camp. When they arrive, they’re surprised there are no Cave Mice about, and have only just started to roast a banana (Wilbur’s favourite), when a scary moaning frightens them both and especially Wilbur.
When her panicked friend gets lost, Amelia is determined to find him and work out the source of the strange noise. Could her fellow mouse, boastful Stilton Jones be involved in some way? His approach to exploring seems unorthodox to say the least.
Told in short chapters, via speech bubbles and in lively cartoon panels which offer lots to help children decode the text and follow the story, this is ideal for those just starting to read on their own and lots of fun all round.
