Junior sleuths, twins Riri and Ani Tariq, have a new case to solve in this addictive Agatha Christie-inspired crime thriller.
This time the twins are in California, Riri and their mum’s home, a holiday for Ani and her dad who live in West Yorkshire. Separated at six months, following their parents’ divorce, the twins are now close despite their differences: hijab-wearing Riri is cautious and organised, Ani much more impulsive. Most important, neither can resist the challenge when a murder takes place virtually in front of their eyes.
Who pushed tour guide Finn Glynn to his death from the top floor of the old manor house in the popular local theme park?
There are four suspects, all on the scene, all with motive, so did one of them kill him, was it two in an alliance or all of them working together? (And you can match all those scenarios to an Agatha Christie classic!)
With Riri’s friend Adora, skilled, self-confessed hacker, signed up as sleuth-in-training, the girls start their investigations. It’s a tough case to crack, with red herrings galore and the stakes rising even higher when a second person is murdered.
Readers will happily suspend disbelief at some of the things these young detectives get up to – adults are surprisingly happy to answer their questions and the local police department very relaxed when they help themselves to key bits of evidence – and as crime mysteries go, it’s a very good one, keeping us all guessing whodunnit until the very end.
The twins’ relationship is another one of the pleasures of the book, and Ani and Adora’s spiky relationship great fun too. Niyla Farook has certainly cracked the art of writing exciting, funny, family-based crime thrillers and this is one for fans of Sharna Jackson's The Nine Night Murder .

An exciting and funny new murder mystery from author Niyla Farook, author of Indie Book Award-shortlisted Murder for Two .
After solving the murder of Mrs Kostas the previous summer, twins Ani and Riri have moved past tolerating each other to a budding friendship. But with Riri and their mum living in LA and Ani and their dad living in Yorkshire, it's hard to stay close. Especially since Ani seems to have gone off sleuthing all together . . .
When they all meet in LA for an exclusive trip to Deadwood Manor theme park, tensions start to rise. Why has Riri's best friend Adora, their older sister and her boyfriend come along when it's a family trip? What has caused Ani to stop sleuthing? Who is Riri always on the phone to?
Then their personal tour guide in the Deadwood Manor park is murdered and it's clear that the time for games is over. There's only one question that matters: whodunnit?
Niyla Farook is a writer from West Yorkshire, where she still lives. When she's not writing, she's either working in a pharmacy (just like Agatha Christie!) or winning every murder mystery game she can (which isn't a lot!). As a woman of color, Niyla is passionate about portraying authentic diversity in her books.
