Presenting an exhilarating mix of magical creatures, gaming-style thrills and spectacular science, Storm of Chaos , third book in Jennifer Bell’s meticulously-crafted Magicalia series , sees Bitsy and Kosh undertake their most demanding mission yet. Emotions run high, bonds are deepened, and the pace and peril are relentless as the story world swells to encompass all corners of the globe.
The adventure begins when Bitsy and Kosh head to Futurecore, “the largest exhibition of new inventions in the conjuring world”. Here they see a demonstration of a remarkable device that has the potential to revolutionise conjuring as everyone knows it. That’s thanks to the device facilitating the duplication of magicores - creatures conjured from emotions that shape their unique powers.
Unfortunately, the device has been tampered with and chaos is unleashed when rogue replicores go on the rampage. As a result of child initiates being able to conjure all six kinds of magicore (adults can only manage one), Bitsy and Kosh are called up for a perilous mission: they must “confront a powerful and unpredictable magicore” while also protecting cosmotypicals from the terrifying truth.
Alongside sharing a sparkling story of curious creatures and courage, Storm of Chaos shares positive messages around kindness, encouragement and how “love’s enduring power could illuminate the darkest moments”.
The third thrilling adventure in a spectacular fantasy series from bestseller Jennifer Bell, bursting with incredible magical creatures, dramatic locations and amazing science. Fans of Pokémon, Skandar and Impossible Creatures won't be able to put this book down!

Jennifer Bell worked as a children’s bookseller at a world-famous bookshop before becoming an author. She began working in children's books as a specialist bookseller at Foyles, Charing Cross Road - one of the world's most famous bookstores. Here, she looked after the shop's five not-so-deadly piranha fish as well as recommending children's books to celebrities, royalty and even astronauts. After having the privilege of listening to children talk about their favourite books for many years, she started writing one of her own
Her debut novel, The Uncommoners: The Crooked Sixpence , was an international bestseller. Jennifer came up for the idea of The Crooked Sixpence while packing for a holiday and wishing she could just disappear inside her suitcase and be there already. The world of Lundinor is inspired by sayings from traditional English nursery rhymes as well as the stories Jennifer grew up with about the Cockney markets her grandparents used to visit.
She is also the author of Agents of the Wild , an adventure series for younger readers; Wonderscape , which was selected as a Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month and is inspired by some of her favourite heroes from history and her love of gaming; and Legendarium, which celebrates incredible legends from around the world. Magicalia: Race of Wonders is the first in an exciting new fantasy series.
