Fresh from encountering the Material Matter secret science society, “a group of the brightest minds who were seeking to tackle the world’s most pressing environmental problems” who had turned out to be “just like all the other adults she’d come across: At best, overcomplicating what seemed so easy.
At worst, greedy and devious”, Ellie finds herself in the tricky position of agreeing to reassess the evidence that led to the farmer’s conviction. “We’ll find a way to get your mum off, she promised. “The evidence…er, the explanation… maybe it’s wrong, somehow”.
Like its predecessor, Ellie’s second mission is propelled by a high-stakes quest to solve a mystery and unearth the truth (in this case, deep underground) with themes of conflict and the complexities of doing the right thing supplementing the series’ overarching exploration of environmental topics. Written in a charmingly whimsical style that occasionally breaks the fourth wall to address readers directly, Ellie Ment and the Passage to Glenmorgan will appeal to confident readers who are passionate about environmental issues.

Alongside running companies, Bertie has long been immersed in the creative arts. He co-founded MWS Media, a video production agency, and produced multiple independent films – including The Sweet Shop, starring Gemma Atkinson and Harry Potter alumnus Matthew Lewis (who he met when he acted as his performance double on the last 3 Harry Potter movies!). His first feature, Roanoke: The Lost Colony, was distributed as an educational tool across all 50 US states.

A fantastic 5-star sequel! So much mystery. Can't wait to read book 3.
As soon as I read the first book, I immediately started reading the second one, wanting to find out what would happen next. Ellie, for the first time, has to question science to find out why her friend Lucas's mum is being blamed for turning the sky green.
My favourite part was in the courtroom when Judge Timothy Winston was trying to sentence Ms Penham (Lucas's mum), and there was lots of rattling, and it was green and birds swooped in—it was really funny. I would recommend this to anyone who has read Ellie Ment and the Material Matter , but also to anyone who likes justice and questioning things.

Ellie is back for another rip-roaring adventure. When her friend’s mum is taken to court, Ellie and Michael set off to prove them wrong. This book has funny and scary moments.
Ellie Ment is a girl who loves science and her best friend Michael will upcycle anything from a cardboard box or a Pringles tube to a mirror or a camera lens. When their friend’s mum gets accused of turning the Hapsie skies green, Ellie and Michael set out on an adventure to prove the court wrong. This adventure takes them all across the UK, meeting members of the Material Matter, a secret organisation for the smartest minds in science.
