Ancient Rome is the second in the Pets Tell Tales series that blends the entertainment of comics with historical fact.
Sales of graphic novels are booming at the moment, with kids across the country strongly engaging with comics. They're fun, visually appealing, and accesible for a range of both avid and reluctant readers.
Pets Tell Tales Ancient Rome is jam-packed with jokes and humour whilst giving an insight to life in Rome through the eyes of a cast of friendly and very knowledgeable animal guides. We learn about the birth of Rome, and the legend of Romulus and Remus from a duo of canines, a horse shares the thrills of chariot racing, and a lion describes the terrors of the colosseum. All sorts of details, from everyday domestic living to the grandeur of the imperial palace, popular entertainment, inventions, diet and beliefs, are told through lively detailed comic strips, speech bubbles and info-boxes.
An excellent and entertaining introduction to Ancient Rome that can be picked up and read in one sitting, or dipped into for bite-sized reads.
