Daredevil frog Croaky and his friends are back in another hilarious and ultra-accessible cartoon-style adventure for new readers, this time taking them on an alien hunt deep into (and over) UFO hotspot Crater Canyon.
Waggle Scout leader Winston the Puffin is on the look out for alien activity so when an albeit small spaceship crashes into his garden, he’s ready. He pauses only to don a tinfoil hat before taking it to his UFO expert friend in Crater Canyon. Of course, Waggle Scouts Croaky and Sheena accompany him, Sheena decidedly more sceptical about the existence of aliens.
Their adventure is full of ups (hot air balloon) and downs (snake pit – eek) and there are surprises all round. Newly independent readers are spoiled for choice at the moment when it comes to silly-funny, highly illustrated action-packed chapter books and Croaky and co are up there with the Super Happy Magic Forest stars and Peng and Spanners as the perfect gateway to a lifetime love of reading.

Croaky Hopper isn't like other little frogs. He dreams of hopping across crocodile-infested waters, not sitting on a lilypad in a pond! So when his Aunt Lilly signs him up for the Woggle Scouts, he expects to spend his time crafting and selling cookies, but he soon discovers there's much more in store . . .
In Danger at Crater Canyon , Croaky and his friends are off to investigate a UFO! When faced with baking desert heat, rickety rope bridges, and mysterious UFOs flying about . . . will they get to the bottom of the mystery? And are there really such things as aliens?
With full-colour artwork on every page, Croaky is sure to delight fans of Jamie Smart and Dav Pilkey.
Matty Long has a First Class Degree in Illustration from Southampton Solent University and a Master’s Degree in Children’s Book Illustration from Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge School of Art). He graduated from Anglia Ruskin in 2011 and has since been working at a bookshop in his home town of Cambridge, developing picture-book ideas in his spare time.
Most of his work is drawn by hand and coloured on a computer, but this will likely change when the felt-tip 3000 is invented. His picture books include the Super Happy Magic Forest series, Who Ate All the Bugs? , Turbo Bunnies , and Salty Dogs .
His debut picture book Super Happy Magic Forest was voted best new picture book of 2015 by a voting panel of 12,000 children, and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
