This funny underground adventure gives youngsters a surprisingly revealing worm’s eye-view of what’s beneath our feet.
Worm, the star of the book, is minding his own business when a looming spade sends him digging downwards at top speed. There’s no rest though and he must keep digging to avoid a huge digger, only to run into an angry mole.
A chase develops and we watch Worm digging for his life, passing all sorts of buried treasure and items of interest, narrowly missing the magma at the earth’s core to finally pop up in Australia!
His epic, full speed ahead tunnelling makes for page-turning reading and children will be fascinated by all the items he passes, from a Viking longboat to dinosaur bones. Bright pink and wonderfully expressive Worm is an irresistible character and every reader will be rooting for him to escape his pursuers. A final page provides a list of ‘amazing’ worm facts, an extra treat.
A fun, original and informative picture book, great for fans of Moesha Kellaway’s Slug Life.
Join Worm as he digs from one side of the world to the other in this thrilling underground adventure! Worm lives in a lovely patch of soil in a lush green field. But his peace is soon shattered when a huge digger and a hungry mole turn up!

Poor Worm has no option but to DIG! He digs deeper than he's ever gone before, and danger is lurking around every corner . . . he bumps into lost treasures, skeletons of fallen soldiers and dinosaurs, until eventually, he almost hits a big, hot ball of magma, and somehow, after he escapes it, he seems to be digging upwards!
A fun adventure with an educational twist from Tom Tinn-Disbury, author and illustrator of Duck Delivers, with amazing worm facts young readers will love.
Tom Tinn-Disbury studied animation at university, where he realised that the best part of the process was writing stories and drawing characters and not necessarily making them move! After a brief foray into film editing and broadcast TV, Tom decided to pursue a career in picture book making. His first picture book, The Caveman Next Door was published in 2019 and was Runner Up in the Cambridge 'Read it Again' awards. Tom uses a mix of pens, pencils, paint and Photoshop to create his art and coffee and sandwiches to write his stories. Tom lives and works in Rugby, UK.
