Joe's uncle is an explorer and traveller and on his return from Egypt he brings Joe a gift - an amulet. Joe loves it as it looks like a dog and as his mum is allergic he's not allowed one. As his uncle departs for yet another adventure he tells Joe that the amulet is very special and it will grant him a wish!

Scratching noises under his bed and Joe came face to face with a hamster - an undead one that had got stuck between life and death... and all because of the amulet. And only Joe could sort it. Sam Hay is the author of more than fifty books for children, including the Undead Pets and Spy Penguins series, and the award-winning picture book Star in the Jar , which has been translated into a dozen languages and was adapted for stage by the Pied Piper Theatre Company. Sam was long-listed for the UKLA award for her novel Billy Angel . Before becoming a writer, Sam worked as a journalist for the BBC in London.
