On the 105th anniversary of its founding, the League of Women Voters sent a letter to Congressional leadership regarding the organization's grave concern over the state of our nation. Specifically, the League writes to urge Congress to exercise its authority to protect the rule of law, defend the Constitution, and end the overreach that the Executive Branch has shown in the last few weeks.

This article and forum from 2023 is a little outdated - not because the issue has gone away, but because it has become more threatening to our immigrant community. The situation it describes - immigrants being detained for extended periods - is still occurring. The backlog and long delays in obtaining legal status, and ultimately citizenship, has gotten worse. And immigrants are being threatened with deportation without due process.
In the aftermath of the 2024 federal elections, what is the impact of misinformation and disinformation on our democratic processes? Is it difficult to discuss issues because the accuracy of information is in dispute? Do we read/listen to news to confirm our existing opinions? Our speakers for this program discussed how misinformation is spread and what we as consumers of news can do to protect ourselves from it and ensure that we ourselves are not disseminating it.
