Mountain Rescue teams around the world risk life and limb to help others. Whether it’s in the mountains of the UK such as Snowdonia, Brecon or the Scottish Highlands or trails in the Alps and Pyrenees these predominantly volunteer teams are ready for a distress call for help.
FTX’s new Mountain Rescue edition Kanyon looks to capture the go anywhere mindset of rescue teams by including some new features over the standard Kanyon. A switchable 2-speed gearbox provides high and low speeds to help navigate rough and smooth terrain, whilst a front bumper mounted winch can be operated from the transmitter to haul you out of trouble.
The iconic Kanyon body comes finished in a new mountain rescue inspired livery and a radio antenna is included for when you must contact base camp on the walkie-talkie.
A 60T brushed motor provides the torque, while the same metal output gears, locked axles and multi-link suspension produce the drive you need to pretty much scale over most obstacles.
With a moulded roof rack ready for you to load with scale rescue accessories, you don’t need to waste too much time before you are ready for your first emergency call out!

For the price, absolutely brilliant and a very capable off road R/C car which is also pretty quick. I purchased a couple of Lipo batteries with increased capacity for better run time after speaking to an enthusiast prior to looking for an entry level kit who also recommended the FTX kit and Modelsport After reading the reviews, I can see the weak point on the chassis plate but this is easily rectifiable by a couple of thin aluminum angle sections to brace the front and rear chassis. it has to be remembered that it is built as an entry level ready to run kit but is fantastic value and the chassis issue is a very minor issue. The instructions are fully comprehensive with a full and detailed parts list with diagrams should anything need replacing. It has a very long winch, bright spot lamps so you can confidently use it in the dark. I have to fight my son and youngest daughter to play with it but, in all fairness, I did buy it to add an extra element of fun and adventure when walking through the mountains with the family wife shakes her head calling me a big kid :- . I also cannot fault Modelsport for their advice and putting a great package together. As a novice to enthusiast R/C cars, I sent several e-mails back and too I live too far away to visit their shop and after much humming and harring on my part, cannot fault how quick I received the goods and how well everything was packed. You are unlikely to be disappointed with the Kanyon. Will go anywhere the real life equivalent will go and also get stuck in the same places.
