The beginning of the year was relatively quiet, with only three cases attended to throughout the month. One case involved a security horse named Adam who was injured while grazing. He as treated successfully and will be back in fine form, up to patrolling Aberdare National Park. The other two cases were elephant treatments arising from human-elephant conflict. The first was a lame elephant bull in Lerata Village (Samburu County) with a bullet wound on the right hindleg. The other was an elephant bull in Sarara Camp - Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy who had spear and arrow wounds on the right forelimb. Dr Aminga is optimistic that both will make a full recovery.
