ERP go-live: a plan for the first 90 days | ORKA

On go-live day, the controlled project environment ends and real work begins, with deadlines, new combinations of data and users who must complete their tasks. Test scenarios are no longer enough: the system encounters partial deliveries, late changes, incorrect entries, the absence of a key person and decisions that were never documented during the project.

Stabilisation is therefore neither extended testing nor evidence of a failed implementation. It is a planned phase that separates system defects from missing data, unclear rules, training needs and genuinely new business situations. Without that discipline, every problem becomes an urgent development request and the project quickly loses priorities and decision traceability.

After the first wave, the team should group incidents by cause. Ten tickets may come from one incorrect master record, unclear permission or poorly understood step. Fixing the cause reduces future tickets; closing them individually only hides repetition. Pay particular attention to where users return to Excel, private notes or email.

Do not allow every department to maintain its own priority list. Do not permanently restore old tools without a retirement date. Do not turn every user difficulty into custom functionality before checking the process and training. And do not declare the system stable only because ticket volume falls — users may have stopped reporting and started working around the system.

Go-live ends preparation. Stabilisation proves that processes, data and people can sustain real work together.
