Product managers are responsible for overseeing the development and launch of new products. They're usually involved in the early stages of product development, but they also stay involved throughout the process. They work with developers and other team members to make sure that each idea is thoroughly vetted before it's brought to market.

Product managers are also responsible for managing budgets, timelines and milestones, communicating with stakeholders and setting expectations with customers. In this blog post, we look at what it takes to be a great product manager.

So what does it take to be a great product manager?

Here are three of the most important skills needed to become a great product manager:

1. The ability to multitask and prioritise

To be a great product manager, it's necessary to multitask and prioritise tasks. This is because it allows you to get more done in a shorter amount of time, meaning that you can shift your attention to other projects. Prioritising tasks is also crucial. It helps product managers to stay focused on what's most important so that they can deliver results quickly and efficiently.

2. The ability to communicate effectively with others

A great product manager needs to be able to communicate effectively with others as they're responsible for ensuring that the end users of their product have a great customer experience. This means that it’s incredibly important for them to communicate both internally and externally with customers, team members, contractors and other stakeholders in order to ensure that their product is meeting its goals.

3. The ability to understand business objectives

A great product manager needs to be able to understand business objectives as they're the ones mainly responsible for ensuring they're met. This is because the product manager has the most knowledge of what the company is trying to achieve. They convey this to the rest of the team, showing them how their work fits into the bigger picture and what needs to happen for success.
