Oslo, Norway / Lund, Sweden – REEN AS, Norway’s leading provider of digital solutions for the waste industry, has acquired Swedish technology company Bintel AB. Together, they are forming the strongest Nordic platform for smart waste management — uniting REEN’s logistics and sensor technology with Bintel’s AI-powered analytics.
The combination establishes the strongest Nordic platform for smart waste management, united by a shared mission to accelerate efficiency, sustainability, and digital innovation across the waste value chain.
The acquisition strengthens REEN’s footprint in Sweden, a key growth market, and brings together complementary technologies and customer portfolios.
Bintel’s AI-powered platforms — Insight, Brain, and Go — will be integrated into REEN’s solutions, enhancing REEN Control and REEN CMS . Together, REEN and Bintel will deliver increased value to municipalities, real estate owners, and commercial customers across the region.
“This acquisition marks an important milestone on our journey toward 300,000 connected assets,” said Nora Johanne Sørsdahl , CEO of REEN. “By combining Bintel’s innovative AI technology and strong Swedish customer base with REEN’s scale and experience, we can accelerate growth and contribute to a more circular and data-driven economy.”
Bintel will be rebranded as REEN AB , serving as REEN’s Swedish hub. The integration will streamline operations, strengthen customer support, and accelerate product development.
“Joining forces with REEN is a defining step for both companies,” said Jennie Orton , CEO of Bintel. “Together, we can scale faster, serve customers better, and lead the transformation of how cities and companies manage resources.”
The transaction is expected to close by October 2025, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
The acquisition was made to bring together two companies that share the same vision — to make waste management smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable through technology.
By combining REEN’s advanced logistics platform and sensor technology with Bintel’s data analytics and AI-based services, the new company can deliver more complete, future-ready solutions to municipalities, real estate owners, and private companies across the Nordic region.

The goals see environment, economy, and social conditions not as separate issues, but connected ones that need to be addressed as a whole. Responding with creativity, knowledge, and technology, REEN is working systematically to meet the needs of two of these goals:
The longevity and health of any society depends on the proper collection, sorting, and management of its waste.
Leveraging technology to understand consumption and recycling patterns to optimise waste management, minimising environmental impact, resource utilisation, and driving a sustainable circular economy.
Reducing the waste collection industry’s carbon footprint through optimised supply chains and fleet logistics.
