I made this version specifically to coordinate with my Butterick B6850 dress. The dress is made from a shiny dark green stretch faux leather, so I wanted the bolero to provide arm coverage without competing with it. I chose a dark green crepe techno knit that coordinates beautifully but has a matte finish, giving the two pieces some contrast. In the past, I have lengthened this jacket to land more at my high hip than at my waist (for personal style reasons). This time, I made no fit alterations to the pattern. I also chose not to topstitch this version because I wanted the jacket to look as clean and dressy as possible. Instead, I blind hemmed the lower edge, front/facing edges, and sleeves. The cropped length works especially well with the fit-and-flare silhouette of B6850 because it ends before the skirt really begins to open up. It's exactly the lightweight layer I wanted for turning a sleeveless dress into something I can wear well into fall. Three versions in, this remains a quick, useful little pattern that changes enormously depending on the fabric. A note that this pattern is very easy to sew, but it is a uniquely all-in-one pattern piece with very few seams and can be a bit confusing when you first look at it.
