Week 6 of the 2026 South Dakota high school football season has arrived and the number of interesting matchups shows that things are just starting to heat up.
This week's schedule includes 23 games Watertown and Aberdeen area schools . It would be more if not for the fact that seven area schools have the week off.
All of the area games are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25. All games are 7 p.m. Central start time unless otherwise noted.
WEEK 5 AREA FOOTBALL: No. 1 Pierre tops No. 4 Watertown in Class 11AA; other area rated teams win

The area teams getting the week off include Groton Area (2-3) and Sioux Valley (2-3) in Class 11B; Florence-Henry (1-4) and Webster Area (1-4) in Class 9AA; No. 2 Castlewood (5-0) and North Central (1-4) in Class 9A; and Northwestern (2-3) in Class 9B.
Tri-State (1-4) is scheduled to host South Border (2-3) in a North Dakota high school game on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in Fairmount, ND.
Area west central Minnesota games on Sept. 25 include Border West (3-0) at Hillcrest Lutheran (2-1), Hancock (0-3) at Ortonville (0-3), MACCRAY (2-1) at Lac qui Parle Valley (2-1), Yellow Medicine East (0-3) at Canby (0-3) and No. 2 Class A Springfield (3-0) at No. 5 Dawson-Boyd (3-0). All games are slated for 7 p.m.
