The Fortnite community was presented with another skin that they can get. Unlike outfits that they can unlock or outright buy, this set has several extra steps. The Winter’s Trickster Legacy Set provides the Volpez outfit and several other goodies. However, you have to unlock it over five stages while you’re subscribed to Fortnite Crew each month. This has caused a bit of confusion and no small amount of commotion in the community.
While the Legacy Set was announced on Fortnite’s blog , many players have flocked to iFireMonkey’s tweet , voicing their opinions. A good portion of players have thought that this would be the July skin, for instance. Seeing it as a bundle , they argued it would be released directly to the Store.

However, despite the confusion, it’s clear that the full bundle is unlocked progressively through continued subscription . Because there are five stages, you’d have to make five $12 payments, equalling $60 in total for the full set.
With a math outcome like that, it’s no wonder that the community is a bit agitated about it, like HowlinWill on Twitter. It’s not unreasonable, but many seem to forget that you also get other benefits through subscribing, and the skin is just another nifty perk.
Additionally, Epic has added an FAQ section to their blog, explaining how the unlocking process works. There, you can read the explanation that once you unlock Stage 1, there is no time limit for when you can unlock other stages. This directly counters the FOMO usually associated with these types of unlocks — as long as you complete Stage 1.
This means that you can simply enjoy playing the game in any game mode and completing challenges and quests as normal while working on the Legacy Set.
